Our role in the community ... TAWA is very active promoting well being through participation in sport and
recreation. Our volunteers support a wide range of cultural and community events in the Townsville, Thuringowa and surrounding regions providing displays and demonstrations of our crafts at many events
each year. TAWA actively encourages participation in our crafts by women and whole family units and works with other groups, organizations with similar interests in promoting arts, crafts and cultural
events.
Monthly Workshop Meetings are held generally on the 1st Monday of the month at the TAWA club house in
Grosvenor St Pimlico.
Workshop Sessions TAWA hosts several scroll saw and woodturning workshop sessions during the week making its facilities available to club members at a very nominal fee.
Annual Woodturning Competition is held in association with the Townsville Show Society’s annual “Townsville
Show” in late June to promote excellence in the crafts of woodturning, scroll saw and pyrography. Entries are received in Open, Intermediate, Novice and Student sections.
Membership is open and is governed by TAWA’s articles of Association. Some restrictions upon our membership are made necessary by the nature of our craft.
