Townsville Area Woodturners Association Inc (Assn. 4809)

"...both beautiful and constantly alive and moving...So different from lifeless steel or unchanging plastic, it is the movement in timber, its sheer unpredictability, that provides the challenge, the fascination that, allied to its beauty, must make wood the most exciting and wonderful material with which to design and work." (Aidan, 1989).

Townsville Area Woodturners Association (TAWA) is a not for profit association formed in 1988 to promote the traditional craft of woodturning and the allied pyrography and scroll saw crafts.

Regular workshop meetings are held at the associations workshop in Grosvenor St Pimlico. TAWA opens its facility to members who wish to enjoy the comraderiae of fellow members whilst turning.

TAWA is a major sponsor of the TPA&IA Townsville Show Woodturning competition at the Townsville Show. Competition results and entries & more info....
